About this shelter

Englewood Animal Rescue and Sanctuary EARS in Englewood, FL

Englewood Animal Rescue and Sanctuary (EARS) is a rescue organization located in Englewood, Florida, in Sarasota County, about 70 miles north of Tampa, and one of 12 other animal shelters and rescues also serving Sarasota County. EARS operates as a no-kill, no-cage, not-for-profit rescue and care-for-life facility, funded entirely by community donations and a resale thrift store rather than government support. Cats are housed on-site in a spacious, socialized area with an outdoor patio, while dogs are placed in foster homes where caregivers learn each animal's needs to find the right permanent match. The rescue also pulls dogs from shelters as far away as Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Broward, and Collier counties, partners with groups like the Venice Cat Coalition and Charlotte Cat Coalition, and runs a Pet Food Pantry to help community members feed their pets.
