Humane Society Suncoast (Suncoast Humane Society) is located in Englewood, Florida, in Charlotte County, about 70 miles north of Tampa, with three other animal shelters or rescues also serving Charlotte County. Its mission is rooted in the belief that "pets need people and people need pets," providing sheltering for vulnerable animals, affordable prevention services, and ongoing support for pets and their families; animals arrive there from 24 different counties and even as far as Puerto Rico to find safety and a second chance. The organization operates a preventive health care clinic offering low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, and other veterinary services, and runs adoption, foster, and pet therapy programs alongside a community pet food pantry. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm.
