Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the completion of an application that requires details such as references, veterinary clinic information, driver's license number, and names. We conduct reference checks and verify veterinary information when necessary. We will discuss the specific animal of interest to ensure it is a suitable match for your household. Additionally, we provide educational resources on managing a multi-pet home, the importance of gradual introductions, and the need for a period of adjustment to help the animal acclimate to its new environment. A "meet and greet" with the animal is mandatory, and it is preferred that all household members attend. Home checks may be conducted, though they are not always required. Once the adoption application is approved, a contract is signed, which includes a stipulation that if the adopter can no longer care for the animal for any reason, it must be returned to us, unless there is a documented bite history or the animal is classified as potentially dangerous. Adoption fees are generally comparable to or lower than those of other local rescues, typically costing $300 or less for dogs and $150 for cats.

The Rescue Crew, Inc in Plymouth, MN

We are a newly established organization comprised of experienced rescue professionals and individuals with extensive relationships and networks within local animal shelters and veterinary clinics. Collectively, our Board has successfully temperament tested, rescued, and placed over 500 animals in appropriate foster and adoptive homes, saving them from euthanasia. The Rescue Crew is dedicated to focusing on the most urgent cases of local animals in need to prevent imminent euthanasia. In addition to our rescue efforts, The Rescue Crew is committed to education and charity. We aim to instruct and raise awareness among the public and potential fosters and adopters about the importance of animal rescue and safety. Our educational initiatives include informing the public about general animal care, proper nutrition, spaying and neutering, and the normal behavior patterns of companion animals. We provide educational materials, research-based information, and conduct public events such as adoption clinics and information booths to help combat pet overpopulation and save the lives of companion animals. Our charitable efforts also aim to alleviate the burden on local government resources and prevent cruelty to animals. We provide rescue, shelter, food, and veterinary care for companion animals in abusive, dangerous, or neglectful situations. We support spay and neuter initiatives to help reduce pet overpopulation and strive to find loving forever homes for animals in need.
