Small Angels Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill organization based in Frederick County, Maryland. We are an all-volunteer group committed to rescuing and rehoming gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, and rats. Founded in the fall of 2003, Small Angels has successfully rescued over 4,500 small animals. Although we do not operate a physical shelter, we utilize a network of foster homes to care for the animals until they can be placed in permanent homes. We believe that these small animals deserve an excellent quality of life, which includes proper habitat, nutrition, enrichment, companionship, and veterinary care. Our mission also includes educating the public about the needs and characteristics of these animals, and we provide comprehensive care sheets to help raise awareness.

Adoption process

All potential adopters are required to complete an application. Upon receiving the completed application, we will conduct an interview with the adopter via phone or email to address any questions or concerns regarding the application. This includes verifying that the adopter meets our cage requirements and has the necessary supplies, as well as ensuring they have adequate information to care for the animal. At the time of adoption, adopters must sign an adoption contract. Adoption fees are as follows: For mice, gerbils, hamsters, and rats, the fee is $10 each for the first three animals, and $5 for each additional animal. For guinea pigs, the fees are $35 each for unaltered animals, $45 for neutered males, and $55 for spayed females.
