PAL was established in 1992 by members of the Yolo County community who were passionate about community service, animal welfare, and enhancing the quality of life for seniors. Initially, PAL concentrated on providing placement services for seniors seeking suitable pets or needing to rehome pets they could no longer care for. The organization also facilitated visits for seniors who loved animals but were unable to have pets of their own and advocated for seniors wishing to keep their pets when transitioning to new living arrangements. Over time, PAL has evolved to emphasize the importance of strengthening the bond between humans and animals for all members of the community.
