Adoption Process

All animals in our care are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Prospective adopters are required to complete a comprehensive Pre-Adoption Questionnaire, which will be reviewed by our staff for approval. Once approved, the adopter must submit an Adoption Application. Adoption fees for dogs range from $90 to $100, depending on the county of residence, while the fee for cats is $50. For farm animals, the fee may be up to $150. All adoption fees cover licensing, current vaccinations, and spaying or neutering. Additionally, adopters receive a Free Wellness exam, which can be utilized at their veterinarian's office within seven days following the adoption.

Sammie's Friends Nevada County Animal Shelter in Grass Valley, CA

Sammie's Friends was established in 2004 to provide medical care for shelter animals facing euthanasia due to illness or injury. We have successfully decreased the euthanasia rate in our county from 68% to less than 1%. This achievement is a result of our commitment to offering medical care and promoting our available animals for adoption. Our dedicated team consists of 11 staff members and over 100 volunteers who contribute to the operation of our shelter.
