Adoption Process

We offer an online application for adoption. The average adoption fee is $200, which does not include the cost of a microchip. Please note that puppies and purebreds may have higher fees.

I am Laurie, and I welcome you to Save a Small Dog Rescue, Inc. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) in California, operating as a public benefit corporation. Together with a dedicated team, we rescue small breed dogs from high-kill shelters, owner surrenders, and situations where dogs are displaced. Our adoption process takes place from our home in Phelan, and we also collaborate with PETCO on weekends to find loving homes for our dogs. Our mission is to provide these dogs with abundant love, nurturing, socialization, and patience. In turn, we seek to connect them with individuals and families who will cherish them just as much as we do. Our organization is located in the High Desert area of Phelan, near Victorville and Hesperia, and we specialize in housing dogs that weigh less than twenty pounds.
