Adoption Process

Our available animals can be viewed on our website. Once you find an animal you are interested in, you can fill out an application. A meet and greet will be scheduled after your application is approved. The adoption fees are as follows: Puppies are $200, adult dogs are $150, kittens are $175, and cats are $75. The prices for small animals vary depending on the species.

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was established in 2018 through the collaboration of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue. This partnership allows us to streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate service duplication, optimize community resources, and enhance our ability to save lives in the region. Our founding organizations have been committed to the welfare of pets in Alachua County for over 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida operates as a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. We transfer animals from open-intake and managed admission municipal shelters throughout North Central Florida. As an independent local 501(c)(3) organization, we do not receive funding from federal agencies and are not affiliated with state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
