The Galax Carroll Grayson Animal Shelter is a regional facility managed collaboratively by three local governments in accordance with the Code of Virginia. The shelter takes in animals as mandated by the Code and strives to reunite them with their owners, facilitate adoptions to new families, or transfer them to other non-profit animal welfare organizations that can assist with adoptions. Animals are transferred on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advisable to consult with shelter staff to confirm the availability of any animal.
