Alleghany County Rescue Squad in Sparta, NC

Alleghany County Rescue Squad, located in Sparta, North Carolina, about 60 miles southeast of Winston-Salem, is a rescue organization open 24 hours every day of the week. Established in 1969, it is a fully volunteer, nonprofit provider of technical rescue and EMS services for Alleghany County, recognized by the state for heavy rescue, agricultural rescue, high angle rescue, and advanced life support medical response, as well as ALS and BLS ambulance service. Its mission is to provide competent and caring aid to victims of emergencies through prevention, public education, and emergency services, responding to everything from medical calls and vehicle collisions to water rescues and wilderness searches, all at no cost to those served. The squad ran 1,734 calls in the 2024 calendar year and relies on fundraisers and donations, along with a small percentage of government and grant funding, to sustain its work.
