Adoption Process

The adoption process includes the following steps: submission of an adoption application, approval of the application, a meet and greet with the animal, a home visit, and final approval by the board. There is an adoption fee, which is accompanied by a contract. The adopter must agree to return the animal if the adoption does not work out.

We serve the following areas: Fauquier County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Warren County, Rappahannock County, Culpeper County, and Fairfax County in Virginia. In Maryland, we serve Montgomery County and Prince George's County.

Washington Area Animal Adoption Group in Delaplane, VA

Every day, healthy dogs and cats with wonderful personalities are euthanized due to overcrowding in shelters. Many of these animals find themselves in this situation through no fault of their own. Pets often lose their homes when their guardians pass away, relocate, or can no longer care for them. We believe that no dog or cat should spend its days in a cold, dark shelter. These animals have so much love and joy to offer. Bringing them into a home not only benefits the animals but also enriches the lives of those who adopt or foster them. Founded in 2012, WAAAG is a veteran-founded, all-volunteer nonprofit animal rescue organization. We assist all types of dogs and cats by finding safe and loving homes for adoptable animals and providing end-of-life care for those who are not. WAAAG's mission is to change the way the world perceives and treats animals, creating better lives for them through rescue, foster care, adoption, and hospice services.
