Humane Society of Warren County in Front Royal, VA

HSWC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has a contract with Warren County to provide animal sheltering services. As an open admission shelter, we do not refuse any animals based on their medical or behavioral needs. Our dedicated team focuses on saving the lives of all adoptable animals in our care. Additionally, we collaborate with the community to promote pet retention and serve as a drop-off location for transport to the local spay/neuter clinic.

Adoption process

Interested adopters are required to complete an adoption application. We will verify that any current pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations and are spayed or neutered. For applicants who rent their homes, we will confirm with the landlord that they are permitted to adopt a pet. Adopters must also complete an adoption contract and a sterilization agreement if the pet has not been altered. Pets that are not altered may only be adopted by residents of Warren County or nearby areas. The adoption fee is $15 for cats and $30 for dogs. Please note that the adoption fee does not cover the cost of spaying or neutering. If the animal is not altered, adopters are required to have the pet spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption or by the time the pet reaches six months of age.
