Southwest Oasis Labrador Rescue in Tucson, AZ
We are an independent 501(c)(3) organization comprised of dedicated volunteers with extensive experience in the rescue and adoption of homeless Labrador Retrievers and their puppies. Our mission is to provide safe and loving homes for these dogs in need. We respond to requests for assistance from shelters, aid in the recovery of lost or abandoned Labradors, and accept owner surrenders. Once in our care, we place our Labradors in foster homes where they receive necessary medical treatments and are microchipped. This typically includes spaying or neutering, updating vaccinations, testing for heartworm and tick-borne diseases, and addressing any other treatable medical issues. Instead of maintaining a shelter, we believe in the benefits of fostering, as it allows Labradors to live in a home environment where they can regain their confidence and feel valued as family members. Our foster families help evaluate each dog's temperament and specific needs, enabling us to find the most suitable adopters and permanent homes. We are committed to educating the public about the positive qualities of the Labrador Retriever breed. We encourage community involvement through donations, volunteer opportunities, and the humane treatment of animals. Additionally, we aim to address pet overpopulation by promoting the importance of spaying and neutering. All Labradors in our rescue program undergo evaluations to ensure they are friendly toward both humans and other dogs. We carefully screen dogs with histories of aggression or severe anxiety, and we do not accept dogs that pose a significant safety risk. However, when appropriate, we offer training to address behavioral issues through our medical and behavioral volunteer team.
