Adoption Process
To adopt an animal from Hopeful Tails Rescue, potential adopters must first complete an adoption application. After submission, our team will reach out to discuss the application and the specific animal of interest. If the application is approved, we will arrange a meet and greet between the adopter and the animal. All adopters are required to sign a contract that formalizes the adoption and to pay an adoption fee of $100 for cats or $150 for dogs. At Hopeful Tails Rescue, we are dedicated to finding suitable homes for our animals. The adoption application collects essential information about you as a prospective pet owner to ensure the best match with your future pet. It is important to recognize that adopting a pet is a long-term commitment that involves providing a loving and secure environment with adequate food, water, shelter, exercise, and medical care. Pets also need companionship and supervision. We encourage you to reflect on the time and financial resources you can devote to your new companion. Our foster parents have in-depth knowledge of each pet and assist us in matching them with the right homes based on their unique needs. If you are unable to commit to providing a lifetime home for a pet, we suggest reconsidering the decision to adopt. After we receive your application, our volunteer team will review it as quickly as possible, typically within 48 hours. However, please bear with us as we balance this process with our other commitments. If you do not hear from us within two days, excluding weekends and holidays, you are welcome to follow up via email at [email protected]. We require a signed adoption contract to finalize the adoption. Hopeful Tails Rescue is committed to the lifelong care of the animals we rescue, and we expect the same level of commitment from our adoptive families. Please allow at least 30 days for your new pet to adjust to their new home. To assist with the costs associated with rescuing and caring for our animals, we request an adoption donation of $150 for dogs and $100 for cats. This fee is significantly less than the actual costs incurred, but it is essential for sustaining our rescue efforts. The adoption fee covers some or all vaccinations, a heartworm test (if age appropriate), microchip and microchip placement, and spay or neuter surgery. We ensure that all pets are in optimal health before adoption.
