Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, potential adopters must complete our application. The adoption fee varies depending on the cat's age and breed. This fee covers essential services, including testing for feline leukemia and AIDS, a series of distemper vaccines, rabies vaccines, deworming, flea treatment with Advantage, a veterinary exam, and spaying or neutering. Microchipping is available for an additional fee of $45. For qualifying adopters interested in one of our sponsored cats, the adoption fee may be waived. At the time of adoption, adopters are required to sign a contract committing to obtain any remaining vaccinations and treatments, as well as to ensure the spaying or neutering of the cat. If the adoption does not work out, such as in cases of allergies, the animal should be returned to the Stray Connection for re-adoption.

Stray Connection is a small organization consisting of private foster homes, without a shelter or storefront, dedicated to rescuing kittens and cats from high-kill, low-funded shelters outside of Knoxville. Once these animals arrive in Knoxville, they receive essential veterinary care. Living in private homes allows us to become familiar with each cat's personality and individual needs. Our mission is to ensure the best match between the cats and approved adopters.
