Adoption Process

The adoption process involves a contract that stipulates spaying or neutering must be completed within six months for puppies. All adult animals are adopted already spayed or neutered. The adoption fee is based on the veterinary expenses incurred. I work with a veterinarian who handles all rescue vetting and health certifications. The adopter is responsible for the transportation costs, which are specified in the contract. Typically, this fee is $125, but it may vary depending on the transport company, as they are paid directly by the adopter.

I primarily send all my dogs to New England, as my contact, Gary, is located in Vermont. The states to which I will adopt include Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

I recently relocated from Vermont to Tennessee, where I have identified a significant need for dog rescue and grooming services. Since 1989, I have been involved in grooming and rescue work, and I have observed that many dogs in this area live under difficult circumstances. The local shelter I collaborate with is currently caring for over 700 dogs but does not promote them through platforms like Petfinder to help them find permanent homes. I have a fenced yard where I can safely place dogs when I am not home. Frequently, I receive pregnant dogs or mothers with newborn puppies. I ensure that all puppies remain with their mother until they are at least eight weeks old and receive two sets of vaccinations and deworming before they are adopted. Additionally, I arrange for spaying of the mothers and, for puppies older than 12 weeks, I also ensure they are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
