Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the submission of an application. Upon approval, adopters will sign an Adoption Agreement, which stipulates the requirement to return the dog if they are unable to provide care in the future. The adoption fee is $300. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Home visits may be conducted at the discretion of VT Dog Rescue.

Additionally, services are available in all towns, cities, and counties within Vermont, as well as many towns in New York and New Hampshire.

VT Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs that are often overlooked, referred to as "Underdogs." These are the dogs that may not meet society's conventional standards of perfection but possess immense love and potential. An underdog can include older dogs who are wise and affectionate, three-legged dogs who embrace life with joy, shy dogs who require extra care to build their confidence, and dogs with physical limitations that may be perceived as flaws but are accepted with grace. This category also encompasses dogs that may have lost an eye but have adapted to navigate their surroundings effectively. Despite facing various challenges, these Underdogs have retained their capacity to be loyal and trusting companions who offer unconditional love. We firmly believe that, like all shelter dogs, Underdogs deserve the chance to be rescued and placed in caring, responsible homes where they can thrive.
