Adoption Process

The adoption process includes several steps: submitting an application, participating in an interview, completing reference checks that involve your veterinarian and employer, conducting a home visit, and finally, arranging a meet and greet. A contract must be signed, and the adoption fee is $300 for fully vetted dogs over one year old and $350 for fully vetted dogs under one year old. Additionally, there is a $50 deposit for spaying or neutering.

GOTGM started as an organization that served as a liaison between high-kill shelters and rescue groups, facilitating the transfer of animals in need of medical treatment. We coordinated the necessary veterinary care and then transferred the animals to the rescue groups, which retained the adoption fees. Our initiative includes the Doggie Den, where we can safely house up to two pregnant dogs at a time, allowing them to give birth and care for their puppies until they are at least eight weeks old and ready for adoption. Recently, GOTGM has expanded by developing our own foster network. We now rescue dogs facing euthanasia, including those needing treatment for heartworm, repairs for broken bones, or emergency medical care from accidents, and we handle their adoption once they are ready. We are supported by a dedicated core group of volunteers, and our services continue to grow as we work to save more pets.
