Adoption Process

The adoption process includes submitting an application, undergoing a home visit, and signing a contract. The adoption fees are as follows: $75 for cats, $175 for dogs aged seven and under, and $100 for senior dogs.

Service Areas

Our primary service area is Jones County, Iowa, with the possibility of serving surrounding counties as space permits.

Animal Welfare Foundation of Iowa in Monticello, IA

AWF is the only animal rescue organization in Jones County. Although we do not currently have a shelter, we are actively working on plans to build one. In the meantime, all pets are housed in foster homes until they are adopted. These foster homes are inspected biannually to ensure proper care. AWF was established in 2003 as a no-kill organization, which means we have limited admission. Before our founding, all stray dogs that were not reclaimed were euthanized. Since 2003, we have not euthanized any adoptable dogs. Our organization is entirely volunteer-based, comprised of community members who are passionate about finding loving, permanent homes for all pets.
