Adoption Process

Potential adopters must complete an adoption application, which will be screened for veterinary and personal references. Following the initial screening, adopters will have the opportunity to meet the pet. If the match is deemed suitable by NSPR volunteers, the adopter will finalize the process by signing an adoption contract and paying an adoption fee of $375. All animals will be spayed or neutered and fully vetted prior to adoption, with the exception of small puppies. In the case of puppies, the adopter will be required to submit an additional deposit, which will be refundable upon proof of spay or neuter. The adoption contract will specify that if an animal is no longer wanted, it must be returned to us and cannot be sold, given away, or surrendered to another rescue or shelter.

In many parts of the country, particularly in the South, the plight of animals is dire. Many are chained outside and left to starve, roam homeless, or are abandoned in overcrowded and underfunded facilities that cannot accommodate more animals. For these animals, hope is scarce, and they often look to the night sky for the North Star, their sole beacon of escape. We are a dedicated group of volunteers focused on rescuing these vulnerable dogs and helping them find permanent homes. Established in 2017, NorthStar Pet Rescue may be a newer name among animal rescues in New Jersey, but many of our members have spent the past decade volunteering with other organizations to assist animals in need. We are fully committed to operating in a safe, transparent, and ethical manner while ensuring that the best veterinary practices are upheld in the care and transport of our animals.
