Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, interested individuals must complete an application. We will then review all applications and conduct checks on veterinary and personal references. Following this, we will arrange a meeting with the potential adopter. If the adopter has another dog, we will conduct a dog meet to assess compatibility. If everything goes well, we will bring the animal to the adopter's home for a home check. After the home check is successfully completed, the adopter will sign the adoption contract. The adoption fee for dogs is typically $300, while for cats it is $100. This fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, and spaying or neutering.

Service Areas

We primarily serve Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey, but we have also assisted clients in other counties.

Rescue Ridge in Spring Lake, NJ

Rescue Ridge is a well-established 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization located in Monmouth County, dedicated to saving animal lives for over a decade. Founded in 2001 by Terri Willis, a local resident who devoted her life to animal welfare, the organization has been a testament to her unwavering love, determination, and dedication, despite her own health challenges. Terri's legacy lives on through Rescue Ridge, continuing her mission to help animals in need. Operated entirely by volunteers, Rescue Ridge relies on donations, sponsorships, and fundraising efforts to support its operations, with all contributions directed toward the animals. While primarily serving Monmouth and Ocean Counties, the organization extends its reach to rescue animals from beyond these areas. Recognized as a "last chance" rescue, Rescue Ridge has provided refuge to many animals at risk of euthanasia in shelters. The organization takes in animals for various reasons, including those whose owners can no longer care for them due to age, illness, or financial hardship, successfully placing them in loving homes. Rescue Ridge never turns away a stray or distressed animal and takes pride in rehabilitating "difficult" dogs that may be overlooked by other rescues. Looking ahead, Rescue Ridge aims to elevate its efforts by establishing a no-kill shelter in Monmouth County. This safe haven will not only provide shelter for animals but also offer essential services to the community, including education and affordable medical care to pet owners. The goal is to prevent families from surrendering their pets due to financial constraints and to ensure lost pets can be reunited with their families through microchipping services. Additionally, Rescue Ridge plans to combat animal overpopulation by introducing a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program for feral cats. The envisioned adoption center will provide a welcoming environment for families to meet potential pets, while the organization will also offer affordable training and socialization programs to promote public safety and the well-being of pets. This initiative will be supported by dedicated staff and volunteers, many of whom have been involved for over ten years. As passionate animal advocates, the team at Rescue Ridge believes in their capacity to make a difference, one animal at a time. They recognize the challenges that lie ahead but are encouraged by the support from individuals and groups who share their vision.
