Public Animal Welfare Services in Rome, GA
We are a municipal sheltering facility located in Rome, Georgia, responsible for animal sheltering and animal control in Floyd County. As a managed intake facility, we do not euthanize animals to make space; euthanasia is only considered when an animal is beyond veterinary care. We collaborate with local rescue organizations to provide veterinary assistance, enabling animals to recover from illness or injury before being placed for adoption. This approach allows us to achieve a 98% live outcome rate.

Adoption process
Our adoption process is open and transparent. We spay or neuter approximately 80% of the animals before they leave our facility. For those that are too young to undergo this procedure, we require that they be spayed or neutered once they are of age. We actively follow up to ensure compliance with this requirement. Additionally, we require that all adopted animals are placed in a safe and secure living environment.
