Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the completion of an adoption application, which is followed by online and telephone screenings. After these steps, a home visit will be conducted, and a contract will be signed, confirming that the adopted animal will be kept as an indoor family pet.

Service Areas

The primary service areas are Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida, including the cities of Pensacola and Milton.

Rosalie and Friends is assuming the responsibilities of the 501(c)(3) organization formerly known as "Friends of the Escambia County Animal Shelter." We will continue existing programs, including sponsorship for heartworm treatment for dogs adopted through our shelter, a fospice program that provides placement and support for senior shelter animals in loving homes, and Major Medical support for cases that cannot be addressed by the shelter veterinarian. Our logo features the phrase "Fospice and Fixer Uppers." We are expanding our efforts to include community animals in need, aiming to prevent them from entering the shelter system. The fospice animals will remain under our care, while the fixer uppers will be placed for adoption once their medical issues have been properly managed. Previously, fixer uppers were transferred to a partner shelter in the northeast, but we will now also offer some of them for local adoption.
