Adoption Process

When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you are not only saving a life, but you are also embarking on a journey filled with love, loyalty, and trust. In the midst of a busy and stressful life, the companionship of a dog serves as a reminder to slow down and appreciate the simple joys. At Swamp Haven, our mission extends beyond merely helping dogs in need find their forever homes; we aim to foster lasting relationships with you and your family. Our adoption process is designed to be supportive and thorough, ensuring that the right dog is matched with the right family. It begins with a phone conversation to understand your preferences for a dog. Following that, you will complete a foster application. We then visit your home with a selection of dogs for you to meet and choose from. You will have the opportunity to foster the chosen dog for a week to ensure it is a good fit for your family. Once everything is confirmed, we finalize the adoption. Congratulations, you are now a member of the Swamp Haven family, and your journey with your new companion is just beginning. The adoption fee is $300.

Swamp Haven is an animal rescue organization dedicated to rehabilitating dogs in need and preparing them for their forever homes. Our mission is straightforward: we rescue dogs that have been neglected or overlooked by society and provide them with essential care. This includes medical treatment such as vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and heartworm and flea prevention, as well as training to help them walk politely on a leash, socialize with other dogs, and adapt to a loving home environment. Our story began a few years ago when we relocated from the Pacific Northwest to North Florida. We were alarmed to discover the high number of dogs that lose their lives in local shelters each month, which inspired us to take action. In early 2015, we established Swamp Haven as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded entirely by donations.
