Adoption Process

The dog adoption process includes several essential documents: a four-page Dog Adoption Application, a one-page Dog Placement Agreement, and a one-page Puppy Adoption Disclaimer. To qualify for adoption, applicants must be at least 21 years old and provide a valid driver's license or state ID that includes their current address. If applicable, approval from a landlord or parent is required. Prospective adopters must also meet with the animal and other family members in the household, as well as any existing dogs in the home. All animals from the shelter are spayed or neutered before joining their new families. Additionally, applicants must successfully complete a pre-adoption interview and application. The organization reserves the right to refuse any adoption. Adoption fees range from $100 to $300. These fees cover the spay/neuter procedure for all rescued dogs, as well as all vaccinations, heartworm testing, fecal testing, deworming, microchipping, and any necessary emergency medical treatments or procedures for the dogs.

Rescue Adoption Inc. in Fort Pierce, FL

Rescue Adoption is dedicated to a two-part mission: rescue and adoption. Our rescue efforts focus on saving dogs that are scheduled for euthanasia by placing a "Rescue Hold" on as many dogs as possible. We regularly deploy our Rescue Vans to transport these dogs to our shelter, where they receive necessary medical care in a home-like environment. Once at our facility, the dogs are properly fed, bathed, treated for parasites, socialized with other dogs and people, and prepared for adoption through spaying/neutering, microchipping, and vaccinations. The adoption process begins with promoting our dogs available for adoption through our website, social media, and word of mouth. We then take the dogs to adoption events, allowing potential adopters to meet them in person. Our mission is to transition these dogs from life-threatening situations to loving homes. As noted by Dagmara Monsalve, "Every time we adopt a dog, we are able to save another one, which drives our commitment to transporting dogs to potential adopters. We are always racing against time to save one more life." Our organization is primarily self-funded, covering over 90% of our operational costs through adoption fees. These funds allow us to manage transportation, veterinary expenses, surgeries, medications, and shelter operations. We do not receive government grants or support from wealthy investors, and less than 10% of our funding comes from private donations and charitable organizations. Our "Paws In Action" program was established to allow our rescued dogs to serve the community by bringing joy and companionship to those in need. These dogs act as ambassadors for the issues of abuse and neglect, raising awareness about dog overpopulation and promoting responsible ownership. Our "Paws In Action" dogs are eager to visit children's hospitals, schools, hospices, retirement homes, hospitals, and non-profit organizations.
