Adoption Process
When an animal enters our organization, we conduct a health check, administer vaccines, perform spay/neuter procedures, and provide a microchip. The animal is then placed in a foster home. When the pet is ready for adoption, we require an adoption application, which includes a meeting between the potential adopters and the animal at our facility. We mandate that any existing pets in the household must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. We perform an online county criminal background check. If the applicant claims to own their home, we verify this with the county appraiser's office. For renters, we contact the landlord to obtain permission for pet ownership. Additionally, we conduct a home visit to ensure the safety of the pet in the new environment. Once the adoption is approved, the microchip is registered to both the new owner and our organization, ensuring that the pet can be identified if it is ever surrendered to a shelter. All adopters are informed that they can return the pet at any time and under any circumstances and are required to sign an adoption agreement. The adoption fee is $115.00.
