Adoption Process
The first step in adopting from Royalty Dog Rescue is to complete our adoption application, which is available on our website. Once we receive your application, we will contact your personal references and your veterinarian. Please inform your veterinarian that we will be reaching out and grant them permission to discuss your application with us. As we are a small, all-volunteer organization, it may take one to two weeks to complete this process, and we appreciate your patience. The second step involves arranging a meet and greet with the dog or dogs you are interested in. Our adoption process requires multiple meet and greets with our dogs and their foster families before finalizing any adoption. If you are committed to these visits, we would be happy to consider your application. Adopting a rescue dog is a long-term commitment, and since all our dogs are in foster homes, the meet and greet will take place at the home of one of our board members. You are welcome to bring any current pets to this meeting. The third step is a home visit, during which we will bring the dog or dogs you are interested in to your home. The final step involves a decision by the Royalty Dog Rescue Board members regarding which home is the best fit for the dog, after which the adoption will be finalized. Please note that you are required to come to us for the final adoption. A few important points to consider: It may take one to two weeks to schedule a meet and greet due to the availability of our foster families. Our selection process is not based on a first-come, first-served basis, but rather on finding the best match for the dog, as sometimes the dog may choose their new family. If a home visit is conducted more than 60 miles from Dover, Ohio, a mileage fee of $25 will be added for each additional 60 miles to the adoption donation. We do adopt out of state; however, you must come to us for meet and greets and the adoption. In such cases, we will work with a local rescue to perform the home visit. If you are willing to make these trips, we are open to out-of-state adoptions. Please note that we do not ship our animals. All adopters are required to sign a contract agreeing to return any dog to us if they can no longer keep the animal for any reason. Adoption fees are determined individually for each dog based on their veterinary care.
Service Areas
Royalty Dog Rescue, LLC is dedicated to saving dogs in need and enriching the lives of both animals and people. Our organization, founded by passionate dog lovers with over 40 years of combined rescue experience, has been operating since April 26, 2013. We are a volunteer-based rescue group located in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and we serve a wide area, including Dover and Columbus, Ohio. We welcome out-of-state applications as long as applicants are willing to travel to meet the dogs before finalizing an adoption. We began as a small group focused on rescuing dogs and have since expanded to include over 20 foster homes and nearly 15 volunteers. Our dogs are placed in foster care, allowing them to experience a home environment while they await their forever homes. We collaborate with other local rescues to assist by taking in dogs when they are at capacity. Our mission is to rescue dogs who have run out of time at shelters, and we strive to rehabilitate, spay/neuter, and adopt out abandoned dogs. We also emphasize public education about dog breeds and the critical importance of spaying/neutering to combat overpopulation. We accept dogs from various sources, including pounds, humane societies, owner surrenders, and commercial breeders, but we do not purchase dogs from individuals or breeders. All dogs in our care receive spay/neuter procedures and complete veterinary care prior to adoption. Royalty Dog Rescue is a registered and incorporated non-profit organization in compliance with Ohio state law and holds 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Our operations are funded entirely through donations received from adoptions, events, and fundraising efforts.
Royalty Dog Rescue in Dover, OH
We would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves and our organization. After several months of planning and preparation, we are pleased to announce the launch of Royalty Dog Rescue, LLC, an all-volunteer rescue group located in Ohio. We do not operate a physical facility; instead, our pets for adoption are placed in foster homes, providing them with a nurturing environment while they await their forever homes. We collaborate with other rescues in the area, stepping in to take dogs when they reach capacity. Our founders are passionate dog lovers with over 40 years of combined rescue experience, and we have carefully screened our foster parents to ensure the best care for the dogs in our program. Our mission is to save dogs who have run out of time at shelters and to foster connections between people and animals to enrich each other's lives. Our goals include rescuing, rehabilitating, spaying/neutering, and adopting out abandoned dogs, as well as educating the public about different breeds and the critical importance of spaying and neutering to combat the growing issue of animal overpopulation. Royalty Dog Rescue accepts dogs from pounds, humane societies, owner surrenders, and commercial breeders. We do not pay individuals or breeders for dogs. All dogs six months and older are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, while puppies under six months can participate in our Foster-To-Adopt Program. In accordance with Ohio state law, we are a registered rescue with the Department of Agriculture and a recognized 501(c)(3) organization with the IRS, making all donations tax deductible.
