About this shelter

ACTion Programs for Animals in Las Cruces, NM

We established APA over a decade ago to develop more compassionate and progressive animal welfare services in our community, aiming to achieve our No Kill objectives. Our primary focus is on rescuing cats and dogs from our municipal shelter rather than taking in animals directly from the public.

Adopting from ACTion Programs for Animals

Adoption process

All prospective adopters must participate in in-person meetings with the animals and counseling sessions with our staff. After these sessions, an application will be completed and reviewed to ensure a suitable match. If approved, we follow an open adoption policy, allowing animals to go home with adopters on the same day. Our standard adoption fee is $50 for all animals. We also provide extensive post-adoption support for any questions or issues that may arise. Additionally, we reserve the right to conduct home checks if deemed necessary.
