STAR, Saving the Animals of Rowan, is a nonprofit organization recognized under 501(c)(3) status that is dedicated to enhancing the lives of abandoned dogs in Rowan County, Kentucky. Our small team works diligently to find safe and loving homes or rescue organizations for dogs housed in the Rowan County Dog Pound. We are committed to decreasing the number of dogs that are euthanized due to the overcrowded conditions of this rural shelter. It is important to note that STAR is not the dog pound; rather, we are a very small group of compassionate individuals focused on rescuing dogs from the pound. Our primary objective is to relocate these dogs to safety, either through rescues or by facilitating their adoption into new homes.
