The Halfway House Animal Rescue

The Halfway House Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing dogs that are facing euthanasia at the Rowan County Animal Control in Salisbury, NC, as well as taking in abandoned, neglected, abused, and unwanted dogs from Rowan County and neighboring areas. We recognized a significant need for rescue efforts specifically targeting this facility and the surrounding community. The shelter is small and rural, often receiving over 30 dogs and cats in a single day, with a limited time frame of 3 days to 2 weeks for adoption before animals must be euthanized to free up space. In addition to rescuing dogs on their last day, we also care for those that are starving, abused, injured, or senior dogs requiring special attention. Currently, we operate entirely through a foster network, with plans to establish a dedicated facility in the future. We believe every dog deserves a chance to have a warm, safe home, regular meals, basic veterinary care, and love. Therefore, we also accept dogs needing emergency medical treatment, those that are heartworm positive, seniors requiring hospice care, and breeds that are often harder to adopt, such as Bully breeds.
