About this shelter
Ruff Love Foster Care and Dog Rescue in Thomasville, NC
Ruff Love Rescue is dedicated to providing a safe haven for homeless, abused, neglected, and abandoned dogs, particularly those considered less likely to be adopted. We maintain relationships with reputable canine organizations and rescues to facilitate the placement of adoptable dogs into responsible, loving environments, either through foster care or, when possible, into permanent homes. As a home-based foster group without a physical adoption facility, we primarily adopt within North Carolina, but we can make exceptions for out-of-state adoptions in special circumstances. We utilize various pro-bono methods to raise public awareness about homeless animals and responsible pet care, as well as to find homes for our dogs. Any dogs that are not adopted will remain with Ruff Love for the duration of their lives. Ruff Love Rescue operates entirely through the efforts of volunteers, who balance their full-time jobs with their commitment to saving dogs. Currently, we have over 100 dogs in our care. Since our founding in 1999 by President Sue Rogers and our dedicated volunteers, we have successfully found forever homes for hundreds of homeless dogs.

Adoption process
The adoption process begins with submitting an application. All pets must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations, including heartworm prevention. Upon approval of the application, a home visit will be conducted, followed by a 10-day home trial period. During this time, adopters will receive support from a personal adoption coordinator and a local trainer. Adoption fees range from $150 to $200.
