Adoption Process

Adoption fees are generally aligned with the basic veterinary costs necessary to prepare each cat for adoption, and these fees will be specified on the individual page for each pet. An adoption contract is required, along with a veterinary reference and a home check. The contract is available for viewing on our website.

Tailless Cat Rescue in Liberty, NC

We are committed to finding exceptional homes for exceptional cats, with a specialization in the Manx breed. We also accept Japanese Bobtails, American Bobtails, and Pixie-bobs. My journey began in 1995 when my neighbor's Manx cat had a litter of kittens. Among them was a tiny runt that was not expected to survive. I volunteered to adopt her if she lived, and that kitten, named Misty, ignited my passion for the Manx breed. After years of rescuing Manx and other tailless cats through various breed rescues, I established my own organization, TCR, in 2006. TCR operates entirely through foster homes, which limits the number of cats we can care for at any given time. We adhere to North Carolina laws that regulate the number of animals in foster care, and we only take in as many cats as we can afford to support. Our focus is solely on the welfare of the cats. TCR is grounded in a commitment to honesty, ethics, and high standards of care. Our guiding principle is to find exceptional homes for exceptional cats. Manx and other tailless breeds possess unique personalities and truly deserve the best possible homes. Most of our cats come from animal shelters or pounds where they are at risk of euthanasia. We typically do not accept owner-surrendered cats, as we believe that adopting a cat is a lifelong commitment. However, we do offer support to pet owners who need to find new homes for their cats and provide expert resources to help address behavioral or health issues, aiming to keep cats in their original homes whenever possible.
