The Humane Society of Alamance County (HSAC) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Burlington, North Carolina, located in Alamance County, about 15 miles west of Greensboro. Founded in 1971, HSAC partners with the community to encourage compassionate citizenship, enrich the lives of companion animals, and promote responsible pet ownership through programs designed to reduce pet overpopulation, cruelty, and neglect. Its core community programs include Rescue & Foster, Emily's Fund for owner medical assistance, a food pantry called No More Empty Bowls, a fence-building program called Breaking Barriers, TNR for community cats, and humane education, and the organization is not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
