Animal Shelters in Burlington, NC

Burlington has two listed animal shelters and rescue organizations, in Alamance County. The mix is fairly even between rescue organizations and humane societies. Graham and Haw River, both within about six miles, have listings of their own. It is a short list, but every animal on it is waiting for the same thing.

Burlington has two listed at the moment, and they are shown above with the ones that have photos first.

A mix of both, and the difference is worth knowing before you set out. A rescue usually places animals from a network of foster homes rather than from premises you can walk into, so you generally arrange a meeting first. A shelter or humane society more often has a facility you can visit during opening hours.

The Burlington listings all fall in Alamance County, which is worth knowing if you are checking whether a shelter takes animals from your area.

If nothing here suits, Graham, Haw River and Snow Camp all have listings within about 12 miles. Each one links through from the sidebar.

Some listings here carry a phone number, and most link to the organization's own website. Calling ahead is worth it — opening hours change, and rescues often work by appointment rather than keeping a building open.
