Adoption Process

The adoption process includes a fee ranging from $100 to $150. Interested individuals must complete a pre-adoption questionnaire, which requires approval. Additionally, an adoption contract must be signed.

Shaw PBR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to rescuing abused, abandoned, or neglected American Pit Bull Terriers. With over 30 years of experience with pit bulls, we firmly believe that these dogs are loving companions deserving of a second chance at a fulfilling life. Throughout our journey, we have encountered numerous instances of irresponsible pet ownership, resulting in pets being dumped, lost, mistreated, or surrendered. By educating the public on responsible pet ownership, we aim to enhance the overall welfare of pets in our community. Initially, our goal was to rehabilitate one to two dogs at a time; however, we now care for 24 adoptable dogs, all of whom are waiting for their forever homes. A distinguishing feature of Shaw PBR compared to many other rescues and shelters is that all dogs in our care remain at our facility until they are adopted. We do not use foster homes, allowing us to closely monitor each dog's health and address any questions potential adopters may have regarding behavior and care. Our organization operates without a formal staff, as both founders work full-time jobs in addition to managing the rescue. Fortunately, we have a small group of dedicated volunteers who assist with fundraising, events, networking, socializing the dogs, and providing care during 'doggie spa days.'
