Panhandle Animal Welfare Society is a private non-profit, no-kill organization. We have a government contract with animal control to serve Okaloosa County. We also have a 90%+ living outcome rate, with a yearly average intake of 5,000 animals. There are 200+ dogs and 200+ cats that live under our care. Our Animal Control Services Division enforces animal related ordinances; investigates animal cruelty, neglect, and abuse; takes custody of stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals; provides support to police, fire, and related agencies; educates residents about responsible pet ownership.
