Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center in Lyndhurst, VA
Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, now known as the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter, is an open admissions animal shelter in Lyndhurst, Virginia, located in Augusta County, roughly 90 miles east of Richmond. It takes in all strays and owner surrenders, caring for dogs, cats, and other animals as it works to place them in forever homes, and it also runs a barn cat program, a foster program, and a community assistance pet pantry. The shelter partners with Friends of SAWAS, an all-volunteer 501(c)3 formed in 2019 to help fund medical care, community outreach, and pet retention efforts. Five other animal shelters and rescues also serve Augusta County alongside this one.
