Animals In Distress is a no-kill cat shelter located in Wilton, Connecticut, in Fairfield County, caring for and placing homeless cats and kittens on a year-round basis since 1964. Cats are not ordinarily caged, no time limits are placed on residency, and animals are only euthanized for severe health or quality-of-life reasons. The shelter is staffed solely by volunteers who visit at least twice daily, brings in new cats for FIV/feline leukemia testing, vaccinations, and spay/neuter as needed, and offers spay/neuter assistance to the community. Located about 5 miles south of Norwalk, CT, and open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, it is one of 36 other animal shelters and rescues in Fairfield County.
