Adoption Process
The adoption fees for our animals range from $50.00 to $300.00, depending on the expenses incurred. To begin the process, an application must be completed, and secure fencing is required for all of our rescued dogs. If you are considering adopting a dog through HALO, here are some important guidelines to follow: Please bring photographs of your yard to demonstrate that it has secure fencing. Most of our dogs require a yard with a minimum height of six feet and it must be free of fox tail weeds. We do allow the adoption of small dogs to residents of apartments or condominiums, but we will need to see pictures of the patio or balcony area as well. If you are renting your home, please provide a copy of your lease to confirm that pets are permitted and to clarify any size restrictions. We do not adopt to households with children under the age of five unless we have prior knowledge of the dog's history with young children. It is also mandatory for all children to be present during the adoption process. If you already own a dog and are looking for a companion, please bring your dog along for an introduction.

We serve various areas including Contra Costa County, Brentwood, Oakley, Knightsen, Sacramento, Discovery Bay, Antioch, Martinez, Concord, and Walnut Creek, among others.
Homeless Animals' Lifeline Organization H.A.L.O. in Antioch, CA
We engage with the community and collaborate with local city and county shelters to rescue cats and dogs, facilitate adoptions, and provide educational resources on responsible animal care. As a non-profit charitable organization, we support dogs, cats, and their owners within our community. Life can take unexpected turns, such as when you are required to relocate and must find a new home for your loyal dog. If friends and family cannot assist, and your dog is neutered with current vaccinations, you can reach out to a H.A.L.O. representative via email at [email protected] or by calling our voicemail at 925-473-4642. We will then contact you to arrange a meeting where you can bring your dog for evaluation to determine if he is a suitable candidate for our adoption program. If he qualifies, we may be able to place him in a foster home. If no foster home is available, we can help you find a new home by listing your dog on our website and providing assistance in showcasing him. Our goal is to work with you to secure a safe and loving environment for your dog. This scenario illustrates just one of the many challenges families face, and we strive to find solutions to a variety of issues within our community. H.A.L.O. is also dedicated to educating the public about proper animal care. We have visited local schools with our animals to teach children how to interact with cats and dogs and promote kindness towards all animals.
