Adopting from Long Beach Animal Care Services

Adoption process

The pet adoption process begins with a meeting with a counselor, where your application will be reviewed, followed by a Meet & Greet with the pet. If this meeting is successful, you will then proceed to counseling and complete the necessary paperwork. Additional information includes the following: after a stray hold, pets can be placed in immediate homes. Those eligible may have the opportunity for pre-adoption during the hold period. Full adoption can occur if the pet is already spayed or neutered; otherwise, a Home First Adoption will be arranged, where the adopter will be responsible for the pet's care until spaying or neutering is completed.
