Adoption Process
Adopting an animal is a rewarding experience, and our goal is to ensure that every animal finds the perfect forever home. At SVACA, we utilize the ASPCA’s Meet Your Match program to help prospective adopters find the most suitable dog or cat. We also ensure that other animals are appropriately matched with their new guardians. To streamline the adoption process and minimize wait times, we recommend scheduling an appointment. However, we also welcome walk-in visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. To facilitate your visit, please bring the following items: 1. A photo ID, such as a driver’s license or valid state ID. 2. Proof of residency, such as a current utility bill or lease agreement. 3. Proof of home ownership, like a mortgage statement. 4. Your residence's pet policy, which may include a leasing agreement with pet stipulations and/or contact information. 5. All human members of your household. 6. Any dogs, if instructed by SVACA staff. Please be aware that animals cannot be placed on hold until you have interacted with them during your appointment. Additionally, we kindly ask that you do not bring any pets to the Center unless directed by SVACA staff. Adoption fees cover the cost of spaying or neutering the animal, initial vaccinations, a professional health examination, a behavior evaluation, a microchip, a temporary ID tag, and a free examination at a participating local veterinary clinic. Residents of SVACA member cities will also receive a license for their new companion. All fees collected are retained by SVACA and are used to support our operations, directly benefiting the animals. The adoption fees are as follows: - Dog/Cat: $100.00 - Rabbit: $30.00 - Small Animal: $20.00 - Bird: $20.00 - Dog Training Deposit: $100.00 (this is required for all pit bulls and pit mixes, as well as all dogs under 2 years). For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call us at (408) 764-0344.
