German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies is a volunteer-run, nonprofit rescue organization based in Westminster, Colorado, in Adams County, roughly 25 miles west of Aurora. It is a 501(c)(3) dedicated specifically to German Shepherd Dogs, taking in and rehoming GSDs while relying on foster homes to care for dogs prior to adoption. The rescue operates as a no-kill organization and provides resources for adopters and fosters, including guidance on whether a German Shepherd is the right breed fit and support through its network of volunteers. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and complete an online adoption application; the rescue then checks references, landlord, and vet, conducts a phone interview, arranges a family meet & greet plus a home inspection, and charges a $350 adoption fee covering vetting, vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter.
