Adoption Process

The adoption process includes submitting an application, which requires contact information for your veterinarian and references. The adoption fees are as follows: $85 for cats and kittens, $95 for adult dogs weighing over 30 pounds, and $150 for puppies, small dogs weighing under 30 pounds, and purebred dogs.

The Humane Society of Harrison County is a non-profit organization that operates independently from the Harrison County Animal Control Center. Our mission is to rescue animals from the Animal Control Center and prepare them for adoption into loving and safe homes. We are committed to being a "no kill" facility, meaning we care for our animals until they find a suitable home. We do not consider euthanasia as a solution to the problem of overpopulation. For every animal we successfully place in a home, we rescue another from the Animal Control Center. We strive to match our clients with the healthiest and most compatible pets, a decision that, while challenging, is essential to our mission. Our ultimate dream is to save and shelter all animals at risk of euthanasia at the Animal Control Center. Although this may seem like an ambitious goal, it remains our steadfast aspiration.
