Vashon Island Pet Protectors (VIPP) is an animal shelter serving Vashon, Washington, in King County, about 10 miles south of Tacoma, and one of 36 shelters and rescues located in the county. VIPP places roughly 100 cats and dogs into loving homes each year, with cats housed at its shelter on SW 243rd Street and dogs cared for in foster homes or boarded on Vashon rather than kept on-site. Every animal adopted through VIPP is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, de-flea'd, microchipped, and tested for disease before going to its new home. Adoptions are handled by appointment, with prospective adopters contacting the shelter directly to arrange a visit or complete an application.
