STOLA Saluki Rescue is a rescue organization based in San Francisco, California, in San Francisco County, roughly 2 miles southeast of San Francisco, with 12 other animal shelters and rescues also located in the county. Incorporated in 2000 as the Saluki Tree of Life Alliance, Inc., it is the U.S. National Saluki Rescue Organization and a 501(c)(3) registered charity run entirely by volunteers. STOLA saves Salukis from kill shelters, abusive situations, owners no longer able to care for them, and natural disasters, then works through its network of volunteers and fosters to rehabilitate the dogs physically and emotionally before placing them in adoptive homes. The organization also provides educational materials on Saluki history, welfare, and training, along with one-on-one mentorship for new and adopting Saluki owners, and has placed hundreds of Salukis into loving homes over its history.
