Adoption process

All of our cats and kittens are current on their vaccinations. Adult cats and kittens that are old enough have been spayed or neutered. The adoption fees are as follows: - Kittens under 5 months: $125.00 - Senior cats (6 years and older): $47.50 - Senior cats adopted by senior citizens (60 years and older): $40.00 - All other cats: $95.00 If you are interested in meeting a cat or kitten for potential adoption, please visit us at the shelter or contact us directly. Kingdom Animal Shelter does not facilitate same-day adoptions. To adopt from us, please complete an adoption application and an authorization for the release of information form. You can bring these forms to the shelter during adoption hours, email them to [email protected], or mail them to P.O. Box 462, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819. The application and release forms are available on our website or can be obtained at the shelter. An adoption counselor will review your application, contact one to two personal references, and reach out to your veterinarian for a reference. If you are a renter, we will also contact your landlord to obtain permission for you to have a pet. Please allow at least three business days for this process to be completed. Once the review is finished, the adoption counselor will reach out to you, typically via email or phone, to inform you whether your application has been approved or declined. If approved, you will coordinate with the adoption counselor to arrange a suitable time and date to bring your new cat home.
