Adoption Process

We require potential adopters to complete an application, which will be reviewed by our team. It is preferred that applicants provide the name and contact information for a current or former veterinarian. Typically, we deliver the adopted pet(s) directly to the adopter's home, where a contract will be signed. We ask for a $100 adoption donation, which covers spaying or neutering, current vaccinations, FIV and feline leukemia testing for cats, heartworm testing for dogs, and all veterinary records. If the adoption does not work out for any reason, we will accept the animal back at any point in their life. Until both the adopter and Thundering Paws agree that the adoption is final, we will refund the adoption donation.

Service Areas

The organization primarily serves the Greater Austin Metropolitan area, including the Texas counties of Travis, Hays, Bastrop, Blanco, Williamson, Gillespie, and Guadalupe.

Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary in Dripping Springs, TX

We are a rescue organization and sanctuary dedicated to companion animals. Our animals come from various sources, with approximately 75% being adoptable. We work diligently to find them loving homes. Additionally, we care for feral cats that have had little to no positive interaction with humans; these animals also lead fulfilling lives at Thundering Paws. Our network of foster homes allows us to support many more animals than we can accommodate at the sanctuary. Some of the animals that arrive at our facility may be fearful and require time to learn about gentle human interaction before they can be adopted. Others need to heal from injuries or illnesses before they are ready for their new homes. While spaying and neutering is the only long-term solution to the overpopulation of companion animals, we believe that all animals that are already born deserve to live full and happy lives. As a no-kill facility, we are committed to this mission. We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and all contributions to Thundering Paws are tax-deductible. Our work relies on the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors.
