The SPCA of Polk County is a humane society located in Livingston, Texas, about 70 miles south of Houston, and is one of four animal welfare organizations serving Polk County. Founded in 1978, it operates as a nonprofit, no-kill animal welfare society dedicated to responsible pet care, spay/neuter to reduce overpopulation, reuniting lost animals with their owners, and finding loving forever homes for dogs and cats. Its 10,000-square-foot facility houses more than 100 cats and dogs of all ages and sizes, and also includes a low-cost spay/neuter and wellness clinic, an on-site retail store, and an in-house transport program that helps pets reach forever homes across the country. The organization relies on community support, volunteers, and foster caregivers to carry out its mission.
