The Animal Rescue League is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Lewisville, Texas, in Denton County, roughly 35 miles south of Fort Worth, and shares Denton County with 23 other area animal shelters and rescues. It is dedicated to the quality care of homeless cats and dogs, serving communities across the Greater North Texas area including Flower Mound, Highland Village, Carrollton, Grapevine, and Denton. A core part of its work is the S.T.O.P. Program (Stop The Overpopulation of Pets), which provides financial assistance for spay/neuter surgeries to address pet overpopulation at its root cause. The organization notes that every three minutes a cat or dog is euthanized in North Texas, and it has refocused its efforts on prevention to reduce that suffering.
