Adoption Process

Adopters are encouraged to spend at least 20 minutes with the animal they are considering. If the adopter is interested in adopting a dog and already has a dog at home, it is necessary to bring their current dog on a leash to assess how well the two dogs interact. For safety reasons, every dog entering the facility must have a current rabies tag. After submitting an application, the adopter must consult with an Adoption Counselor and complete the required paperwork. All companion animals adopted from the Animal Defense League (ADL) are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Additionally, dogs are current on heartworm medication. Adoption fees are as follows: puppies under 4 months are available for $85, dogs 4 months and older for $60, kittens under 4 months for $30, and cats 4 months and older for $25. Animals aged eight years or older are eligible for free yearly vaccinations at the ADL. Furthermore, ADL offers one month of complimentary pet insurance to adopters.
